D-40 in ANTIQUE SUNBURST
Series: Guild USA
The D-40 is perfect for players looking for that ultimate dreadnought sound. The classic combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid genuine mahogany back and sides provides remarkable volume, clarity and sustain. Brand new to the Guild USA line, this model features an East Indian rosewood bridge and fingerboard, white ABS binding, and a hand-cut bone nut and saddle. An elegant and thin satin varnish finish gives this guitar its familiar broken-in look and feel, while allowing the tone woods to reach their highest sonic potential.
The D-40’s timeless appointments include a vintage style rosette and Guild’s peak logo inlaid on the headstock. Each D-40 comes with a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, and ships with an archtop wood case. Finish options include satin varnish in Natural, or Antique Burst with Cabernet back, sides and neck. A discreet, USA-made LR Baggs Element VTC pickup is also available.
Future variations include a D-40 Traditional – a homage to the historic Guild D-40 of the 1960s featuring gloss Nitro Finish, tortoiseshell binding, inlaid Chesterfield logo, and dovetail neck joint – coming in 2017!
Learn More About Guild USA
In July 2014, Guild began constructing a new state-of-the-art factory in Southern California where the first order of business was to search the globe for original molds, equipment and rare Guild guitars. Machinery was shipped from the previous factory in New Hartford, CT and retro-fitted into the new production line. Ren Ferguson, legendary luthier, was named VP of Manufacturing and R&D. Ren’s history with Guild (notably his Guild Orpheum Series) combined with many years of excellent guitar building made him the perfect visionary to set up and design Guild’s new factory.
Guild is excited to ring in a new era of USA production. Interpreting classic Guild designs through an innovative approach and modern technology, these guitars feel and sound better than ever and are Made to be Played.
