The VR1 F-40 Au Naturel acoustic guitar is the initial offering in the Guild Ventura Reserve series of master-grade instruments handcrafted in Ventura, California. VR guitars represent the pinnacle of Guild lutherie artistry and will be available in very limited runs. Each guitar comes with a hand-signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

EXTRAORDINARY TONEWOODS

The VR1 F-40 Au Naturel is meticulously constructed from extremely rare tonewoods that Guild has been aging and seasoning for decades. Wood choices and combinations contribute significantly to an acoustic guitar’s sound, and qualities such as hardness, density, and flexible strength distinguish different tonewoods. The VR1 F-40 Au Naturel guitar’s back and sides are constructed of aged solid 5A flame maple, providing the tonal depth and complexity characteristic of vintage instruments while also being visually stunning. An aged solid 5A Adirondack spruce top adds brightness and a lively response to playing dynamics. The guitar’s mahogany neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard, rosewood pickguard, and numerous wooden appointments complement the other tonewoods.

JUMBO BODY SHAPE

Guild jumbo acoustic guitars have been renowned for their robust sound for more than 50 years. Their large size and rounded bodies create a spacious internal chamber that produces a powerful bass response, making them especially popular with country, rock, and other guitarists that play with a moderate to heavy attack. The VR1 F-40 Au Naturel combines that large body shape with extraordinary tonewoods and scalloped Adirondack spruce top bracing to deliver a well-balanced tone with exceptional depth and projection. The ultra-thin Natural Gloss nitro finish has both satin and gloss qualities that highlight the natural beauty of the tonewoods.

WAVERLY SNAKEWOOD APPOINTMENTS

Snakewood is one of the rarest and most exotic woods in the world. In addition to its striking appearance, snakewood is very dense and resonant, making it a highly desirable tonewood. There are even guitars with solid snakewood backs and sides. Guild sourced deluxe tuners with snakewood buttons, snakewood bridge pins, and snakewood endpins for the VR1 F-40 Au Naturel from the historic Waverly Music Products Company. These appointments enhance both the performance and beauty of the instrument.

BOUTIQUE DETAILING

Further distinguishing this extraordinary guitar are its elegant trim and other fine appointments. These include flame maple binding on the body, fingerboard, and headstock; a multi-ring black and white rosette; an Indian rosewood headstock overlay with mother-of-pearl Guild Peak logo and G shield inlays; and an Artisan Guitar Creations ThinWood rosewood pickguard. The guitar’s stylish Natural gloss nitro top, body, and neck finish inspired the “Au Naturel” name.

PREMIUM VR HARDSHELL CASE & EXTRAS

The VR1 F-40 Au Naturel comes with a HumiCase Ventura Reserve hardshell case. These cases incorporate custom-designed HumiPods that maintain a consistent humidity level at all times, protecting the instrument from the adverse effects of weather and humidity changes. They are also lightweight, lined with plush crushed velvet, fitted with durable locking chrome latches, and emblazoned with a Ventura Reserve VR logo. “Case candy” includes a black leather strap, a black leather keychain/pick holder, and a polishing cloth.
