T-Bird ST P90 in Pelham Blue

Based on the S-200 T-Bird reissue, the T-Bird ST P90 features the same unique, asymmetrical shape, but with a simplified feature set. Minimalist players will appreciate the added stability and reliability of a stopbar tailpiece and pared down electronic controls, while enjoying the T-Bird’s retro vibe. The dual Guild Franz P90 pickups found on the T-Bird ST P90 are perfect for the player looking for that crisp, vintage, single-coil sound, offering plenty of mid-range output that can be driven to a soaring classic rock tone. The T-Bird features a vintage C shape set mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays. Other period-correct details include open gear vintage tuning machines, and famed asymmetrical headstock adorned with Guild’s logo and Thunderbird icon in mother-of-pearl. Available in Pelham Blue; a padded Guild deluxe gig bag is included.

T-Bird ST in Vintage White and Cherry

Based on the S-200 T-Bird reissue, the T-Bird ST features the same unique, asymmetrical shape, but with a simplified feature set. Minimalist players will appreciate the added stability and reliability of a stopbar tailpiece and pared down electronic controls, while enjoying the T-Bird’s retro vibe. The T-Bird ST’s dual LB-1 Little Bucker pickups are replicas of Guild’s 1960s smaller size humbucking pickups, and offer a range of tones well-suited for a variety of playing styles and genres. The T-Bird ST features a vintage C shape set mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays. Other period-correct details include open gear vintage tuning machines, and famed asymmetrical headstock adorned with Guild’s logo and Thunderbird icon in mother-of-pearl. Available in Vintage White or Cherry (Cherry is available exclusively through Sam Ash); a padded Guild deluxe gig bag is included.

M-240E Troubadour

The M-240E Troubadour features a solid Sitka spruce top over an arched mahogany back, a classic wood combination that produces a well-balanced voice with plenty of overtones. Other features include an Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, tortoiseshell pickguard, nickel plated open gear tuners, and a thin, resonate satin polyurethane finish with a vintage sunburst top. Completing the Troubadour’s vintage vibe is the DeArmond ToneBoss, a user-friendly humbucking magnetic soundhole pickup with built-in volume control that is compatible with any amplifier. A deluxe padded Guild gig bag is included.

M-40 Troubadour

Proudly made in the USA. The M-40 Troubadour’s small concert size body is comfortable and lightweight, combining a solid Sitka spruce top and solid African mahogany back and sides to produce a delicate, well-rounded tone that is ideal for fingerstyle playing and light strumming. A thin satin varnish provides optimal conditions for the Troubadour’s premium tonewoods to breathe and resonate, and gives this guitar its familiar, broken-in look and feel.

The M-40 Troubadour’s timeless appointments include a vintage style rosette, white ABS binding, a tortoiseshell pickguard, nickel plated open gear tuners with cream buttons, and Guild’s peak logo inlaid on the headstock. Each M-40 Troubadour includes a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, and ships with a Guild humidified hardshell case. Available in Natural or with an Antique Sunburst top. A discreet, USA-made LR Baggs Element VTC pickup is also available.

D-40 Traditional

The Guild D-40 Traditional embodies the features that have made the D-40 one of Guild’s most beloved and revered models. Using a high-grade solid Sitka spruce top and solid African mahogany back and sides, Guild adds scalloped Adirondack braces for power, nuance and responsiveness. The D-40 Traditional’s three piece mahogany and walnut neck is topped with an Indian rosewood fingerboard and is joined to the body with an authentic dovetail joint. This classic dreadnought is handsomely appointed with a tortoiseshell pickguard, rosette, and binding, a genuine mother-of-pearl Guild peak and chesterfield logo inlaid on the headstock, and nickel-plated open gear tuners. A lustrous nitrocellulose lacquer provides an elegant finish to this masterpiece, optimizing the beauty and resonant qualities of its premium woods.

Each D-40 Traditional includes a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, and ships with a Guild humidified hardshell case. Available in Natural or with an Antique Sunburst top. Proudly made in the USA.

D-55

First introduced in 1968 as a special-order top-of-the-line model, the D-55 was so well-received that Guild added it into the regular production line by 1974. Famously played by Tommy Smothers on the Smothers Brothers Show in the 1960s, the D-55 grew in both popularity and longevity over the decades, finding homes in the hands of more contemporary artists like Waylon Jennings, Billie Joe Armstrong, and David Nail. The most anticipated return of a Guild acoustic to date, the 2017 Guild D-55 is back and better than ever.

The D-55 remains true to all the premium appointments of its 1968 predecessor, including a AAA Sitka spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and nitrocellulose finish. Internal refinements include scalloped Adirondack bracing as well as an improved dovetail neck-joint, hand fit to make this generation of D-55 the lightest, loudest, and best-sounding yet.

The D-55 showcases Guild’s most recognizable headstock which is fully bound and features the Guild “Peak and Shield” inlay combination over a figured ebony overlay. The matching ebony fingerboard is also fully bound and inlayed with Guild’s iconic abalone/pearl “V-Blocks” and multi-line “railroad track” purfling on the bass and treble sides. The D-55’s fingerboard is set on an all-mahogany neck with beautiful walnut center seam running the length of the heel to headstock. The D-55’s nitro finish is available in natural or Antique Burst and is hand sprayed for minimum thickness and maximum resonance that will only get better with age. An LR Baggs pickup system is available as an option, and each guitar includes a had signed certificate of authenticity and ships Guild’s Premium humidified hardshell case.

Hello Ren Ferguson & Guild Company, I am happy to hear that the USA Guild guitars are coming out this year of 2017. The D-55 is the one I am very happy to hear. My Guild D-55 was made at the Hartford, CT. factory in the year of November 13, 2013. It has the D-Tar Multi-Source pickup system with mic. I read that the new D-55 made at your new Oxnard, CA Guild factory will have a LR Baggs Element pickup system. I just want to know why the change? Does the LR Baggs Element have a mic.? The mic. in the D-Tar Multi-Source pickup system has more of a true sound of the body surround sound of the guitar. Please reply and share with me your thoughts. I am proud and very happy with Guild Guitar Company! Keep Guild Guitars strong, looking and sounding great. Thank you!

      Hi Larry!
Thanks again for your comments regarding the upcoming D55 release.
Regarding the pickup for the D55 – since our current acoustic-electric lineup of USA-made products all feature the L.R. Baggs Element, this was our first choice. As you may know, the Element was engineered to mirror the actual movement of the soundboard, improving the overall dynamic range and response, and we believe it is a perfect complement to our USA products. Of course, our product development process is ongoing, so welcome your input regarding other options. Thank you again for your support of Guild guitars!

    It’s so awesome to see the Franz-style P-90’s on a solid-body! Finally!

Just add a boost/overdrive pedal, and a nice Class A combo amp capable of some raunchiness and voila! A great rig for classic rock, blues/boogie rock, and maybe even punk!

Eh, sorry guys, but this is the first year I’ve been disappointed in your new electrics. You have a rich variety of beloved models that can still be reissued (s70, s300, x350, Jetstar, Liberator, etc.). Not to mention more bass models. To only offer alternate versions of the Thunderbird, without the electronics no less, is a real let-down. Oh well.

I understand the D-40 is available in the “traditional” model (higher end), and the standard model.
I would be interested in on knowing if opting for the higher end “traditional” model would indicate a louder more bluegrass effect.

      Hi Cam,
Some of the differences between the D-40 and the D-40 Traditional are scalloped Adirondack spruce braces on the D-40 Traditional, Nitrocellulose finish (D-40 Traditional) vs. Satin Varnish (D-40) and a Dovetail Neckjoint (D-40 Traditional) vs. Mortoise and Tennon (D-40). These differences will have an effect on sound, but personal preference will be subjective.

    Hello Guild,
I left a comment asking about details for the jetstar S-50 and haven’t heard a response and can’t find the comment I left here asking. It is available for preorder online but would just like to know around when it will be in stores to try in person. The “ship by date” online keeps getting pushed back.

    Thank you for your time

      Hi Matt,
We’re not sure what happened to your previous comment. Sorry for the confusion! We are working with Musician’s Friend to remove that listing as it was mistakenly added too soon. We are, indeed, developing the Jetstar! Thanks for your enthusiasm and patience. It will be worth it.

Thanks so much for responding to my question about the X-175B Manhattan. I had one ordered through one of your very large dealers in Ft. Wayne, Ind. and I was told that model was not available anymore. Are these still manufactured in Korea?

Hi guys, your video for the new D-40 is really good. I am pretty sure this model is made for me, but i’m living in Paris, France, and i do not find any official guild dealer here.
What is the best option for me to try a new D-40 in my town ?
Will you sign with a new dealer here in Paris ?
    Thanks

Dear Guild Guitars, Just an update from last post. I have my X175B Manhattan now and I’m very pleased with it. Believe me I was a little anxious about getting a foreign made guitar. Every thing I have is Gibson or Fender American made and expensive. I do not like cheap made guitars. It was the Guild name and the fact that Guild obtained Ren Ferguson for their acoustic line. That made me feel Guild was serious about producing great instruments again. Evidently, you have conveyed to the manufacture that these instruments must live up to the Guild name. The Korean workers have produced a beautiful instrument. One that I am not hesitant about comparing to the American made guitars I have. I have found no blemishes on this guitar. Can’t say that about my $3000.00 limited edition Gibson SJ100.
Congratulations on producing a very fine instrument.

Hello Guild, on the Guild D-55 is the X brace forward- standard or back for the great sound that makes it for the D-55? Shifting the X brace in the top changes the sound I have heard. Please let me know. I would like to hear a new demonstration of the D-55 with the L.R. Baggs Element Preamp. I love my D-55 with the D-Tar Multi-Source pickup with mic. “MADE TO BE PLAYED”. Any update on when the F-512’s will be ready for purchase? I bought a Guild F-50R with D-Tar about 5-6 years ago and I instantly became a Guild Die Hard. I need a 12-String and after trying a few other brands the last few months due to the F-512’s not being on the market, I realized I might as well just wait because nothing is going to live up to the Guild quality I have become accustomed to playing.

I´m planning to install a pickup. What could you recomend me ? LR Baggs Anthem or K&K Trinity ?
    Thanks.
