What’s different about these new Standard Series models compared to old D-40/D-50 models?

Over the last 60+ years, Guild has produced several variations of D-40 and D-50 models. (Bluegrass Jubilee, Bluegrass Special, Richie Havens, among others.)

These latest iterations reflect the best attributes of legacy D-40 and D-50 models while adding modern refinements in design, playability, and construction.

Celebrating Guild’s 70th anniversary, the new standard series heralds the greatest attributes of Guild’s history and rings in a new era of USA production.

Guild’s new 40 Standard Series introduces our new Vintage Gloss nitro finish. This all-new finish is an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer with both satin and gloss qualities that highlight the natural beauty of the tonewoods.

Featuring a smooth closed-pore texture and a hand sprayed soft, silky coating the Vintage Gloss finish gives each guitar a worn-in vintage feel and tone with a sleek, modern appearance.

In addition to the classic Natural finish, Guild’s new 40 Standard Series debuts the new Pacific Sunset Burst. Inspired by Guild’s Southern California home, this new finish embodies casual elegance with a subtle edge burst.
