vintage-inspired electric guitar with offset appeal

A natural next iteration of the Surfliner platform, the Surfliner HH dips into rock and metal genres with an HH configuration and coil-splitting for a diverse tonal pallet. Influenced by the iconic heritage and eccentric shapes of vintage Guilds. The Guild Surfliner platform compliments the brand lineage by combining classic styling with modern features in an offset, solid body electric. A nod to Guild’s new California Heritage, the Guild Surfliner takes its namesake from the Surfliner train that travels the California Coast. Gloss body available in Canyon Dusk and Shoreline Mist metallic finishes.

solid poplar body with comfortable c shaped 25.5” scale maple neck

Sleek, contoured lines shape the asymmetric Poplar body, while a satin finished C-shaped neck provides smooth, fast playing experience. Evenly balanced and shaped to fit comfortably at any strap height. Featuring a neck to body joint at the 17th fret. One of Guild’s few electric models to feature a 25.5” scale length.

HH Pickup Configuration Featuring Guild HB-2 Humbuckers With Alnico II Magnets

Outfitted with two HB-2 Humbuckers with Alnico II magnets. The HB-2 pickups were developed to recreate the tone of vintage Guild HB-1 pickups in a standardsize humbucker format. Featuring Alnico II magnets, they deliver rich, warm vintage tone.

Guild Rocker Pickup Switching System Combined With Coil-Splitting Master Volume And Tone For 8 Pickup Combinations

The sound of the Surfliner HH is driven by the Guild Rocker Pickup Switching System and push/pull master volume and tone controls. Each rocker switch and push/pull are assigned to a single pickup allowing players to dial in a total of 8 pickup combinations. Go from smooth, creamy tones to snappy single-coil or full frequency, acoustic-like tones in a matter of a few pushes and pulls. A true workhorse that holds its own in rhythm and leads the Surfliner HH brings new soul to the classic Guild DNA.

Guild Rocker Pickup Switching System

1. Bridge – Hum Canceling – This position will have the most “edge” or “bite”, it responds great to distortion. Perfect for solos or in your face rhythm parts, the HB-2 humbucker possesses the bold mid-range typical of standard humbuckers but with tighter lows and sparkling highs that don’t get brittle.

2. Bridge (Coil Split) – Pulling up on the tone knob, splits the coils of the bridge humbucker for spanky single-coil tones. This position is great for chicken pickin’ or when added clarity is needed.

3. Bridge (Coil Split) + Neck – This position has a full-frequency, almost acoustic like tone bit with added compression and twang from the split bridge pickup.

4. Bridge + Neck – Hum Canceling – This position combines the tonalities of the neck and bridge humbuckers. Thick, creamy mids, big, round bass and clear trebles make this a great all-around tone.

5. Bridge (Coil Split) + Neck (Coil Split) – Hum Canceling – This position is great for funk with big basses and hollow sounding trebles. This position possesses some of the quack typical of out of phase pickup settings.

6. Bridge + Neck (Coil Split) – A great all-around tone, this position has a similar tone to setting #4 but with less emphasized mids. This is a great in-between tone that is warm and full with bell like trebles.

7. Neck (Coil Split) – Pulling up on the volume knob, splits the coils of the neck humbucker. This gives an added snap to the smooth, creamy tone of the neck humbucker, great for lead lines or rhythm parts that won’t get muddy.

8. Neck – Hum Canceling – This position produces a smooth, creamy tone great even for jazz or, with some added distortion, singing lead tones.
