The Guild D-40 Legacy:

Heritage and Craftsmanship

Since the 1950’s the Guild name has been synonymous with premium acoustic guitars that have a rich heritage of USA made craftsmanship. Foundational to the Guild product line are the D-40 and D-140 lineup of guitars, powerful dreadnought acoustics that deliver the essence of Guild acoustic quality and tone in a Spruce and Mahogany tonewood pairing. While the D-40 dates back to the early 1960s, the D-140 was first

introduced in the early 2000s as an accessible import version of its ever-popular US-made counterpart. The “100 series” models now live within the company’s Westerly Collection, a range of high-performance and professional-level instruments that carry premium specs like all solid tonewoods and artisan Mother of Pearl inlays at accessible prices below their US-made cousins.

D-40 Traditional

Available in Natural and Antique Burst

The Guild D-40 Traditional embodies the features that have made the D-40 one of Guild’s most beloved and revered models. Using a high-grade solid Sitka Spruce top and solid African Mahogany back and sides, Guild adds scalloped Adirondack braces for power, nuance and responsiveness.

The D-40 Traditional’s three-piece Mahogany and Walnut neck is topped with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard and is joined to the body with a traditional dovetail joint. This classic dreadnought is handsomely appointed with a tortoiseshell pickguard, rosette, and binding, a genuine mother-of-pearl Guild peak and Chesterfield logo inlaid on the headstock, and nickel-plated open gear tuners. Proudly made in the USA.

D-40 Standards

Available in Natural and Pacific Sunset Burst

The Standard Series joins Guild’s USA product line just under its flagship 55 and Traditional models. The models offer players a blend of vintage appointments and a modern aesthetic. Tailor-made for musicians seeking a contemporary guitar that exudes sophistication, while embracing a tasteful simplicity distinct from the company’s premium lineup. Featuring dot neck inlays and unbound headstocks, the series also showcases Guild’s innovative, all-new Vintage Gloss finish, an ultra-thin nitrocellulose application with both satin and gloss qualities that highlight the natural beauty of the tonewoods. With an even and smooth texture, the Vintage Gloss is hand sprayed and gives each guitar a worn-in vintage feel, all the while maintaining a strikingly contemporary and polished look. Proudly made in the USA.
