Biography

"Its the best sounding 12 string.....ever" - Fran Healy on his Guild 12 String

Fran Healy formed Travis in Glasgow with Dougie Payne (Bass), Andy Dunlop (lead guitar), and Neil Primrose (drums) in 1990. After writing demoing songs such as "All I Wanna Do Is Rock" the band grabbed the attention of Sony Music Publishing and soon after signed to Independiente Records.

Debut album "Good Feeling" gained the band some attention and UK their first UK chart appearance. The band then went on to record 'The Man Who' with producer Nigel Godrich but it was the single "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?" that grabbed the hearts and minds of music fans everywhere. After an excellent set at Glastonbury in 2000, the heavens opened and the rain started pouring during the opening moments of the song which was a sign that Travis' time to rise was upon them.

The band have released 7 albums, all driven by Fran Healy's melodic songwriting and during the bands hiatus Fran released solo album "wreckorder" in 2010. The album features Paul McCartney on Bass in which Fran thanked him by becomng a vegetarian and a duet with Neko Case.

One of Fran's earliest Guild experiences was with a Jumbo 12-String, which he first used properly on the recording of "Sing" from the album "The Invisible Band" which he claims "Its the best sounding 12 string.....ever"

After a break Travis are back with new album "Where You Stand" and Fran will be touring the album with Travis for the near future with his Guild guitars.
