Megumi Mori

Biography

It is a dream come true for me to have an endorcement relationship with Guild. I was very delighted to be given this opportunity. The acoustic guitar allows me to express my music, and Guild gives me the sound that is unique. I can create my own sound and Guild enriches my imagination. When I am on stage performing or in the studio recording, I am enlighted. I am looking forward to using this opportunity to enhance and perfect my music.  

Megumi Mori was born February 16th 1985 in Hiroshima, Japan and began performing street shows in her hometown of Fukuyama, at the age of 15, accompanying herself only with an acoustic guitar and voice. Megumi plays the guitar and ukulele and writes all her own material. She is extremely talented on the guitar and live performances are spectacular. Her guitar technics and song writing genius comes from her love of the acoustic guitar and hundreds of live performances every year.

 

In April 2005, she graduated from college and started focusing on street performances full-time. Her guitar playing and beautiful voice gradually spread by word-of-mouth and was eventually featured in newspapers and on local television shows.

 

Within in just a few months of performing and her highly acclaimed TV appearances, in December 2005, Mori signed with the indie-label Multi-format Studio Japan and released her self-titled debut single, Megumi Mori. She promoted the single with a concert in Hiroshima Kenmin Bunka Center with over 500 people in attendance.

In 2007, Mori traveled to Hawaii to film several promotion videos for her first DVD, Megumi Mori clips Vol. 1 and also held many performances during her stay. Her second single, Nemurenu Yoru was released in June. The following year, Mori relocated to Tokyo and began performing in many clubs and venues to promote her first album, Tsuzuite Yuku Hibi.

Mori's first mini-album, Soba ni was released on March 25, 2009 under the famous Avex Trax sub-label Rhythm Republic and quickly selling over Ten thousand albums. Her performances on YouTube became very popular with over One Million views combined. It was her first release available nationwide, and all the songs were performed on her acoustic.

In 2010, Mori moved to the major label Avex Trax Cutting Edge. Her major debut single, "Kimi", was released on July 7 2010. In 2011, Megumi headlined her on tour with three sold performances in Tokyo. With her fan base worldwide growing rapidly, that next year in 2012, Megumi sold out the famous BLITZ venue in Tokyo and Jan 16th 2013 a successful show of two thousand fans at Shibuya AX in Tokyo.

Megumi Mori has been a Guild and Fender player for many years, collaborating with Fender as a Guild and Fender artist on many events such as her Guild performance on the Fender stage at Tokyo Guitar Show 2013.

With her ever-evolving variety of talent and stunning performances, Guild Guitars are proud to be her choice of acoustic guitars and guitars.
